Guess Who's Back...Back again...

Hello to whomever is stopping by today... I haven't blogged in FORRRREEEVVVVVEEERRR! (said in the best Sandlot voice!) I am starting up again today! I am excited to start up again because so much is happening in my life right now...

Let me give you a little recap of what has happened in the past few months or well maybe a year!

October of 2012:

May third nephew was born ... Duncan McCarthy! Isn't he the cutest thing ever! :)
This was a couple months ago ... but he is my precious angel (I am a little biased because he is also my Godson!)

December of 2012:

I started working out... this has been a long goal of mine - Since I got married and got extremely comfy with the hubby and learned how to cook (and apparently eat!) I gained a lot of weight - I always kept putting off exercising.. I hated it - now I am OBSESSED with it. I started taking classes at a place here in Lexington - SweatLex. It is a barrecardio class which I L-O-V-E!

Before I started working out with my wonderful father in the back of his restaurant cheering on our C-A-T-S!

February 2013:

We had puppies... don't even get me started on that one! Let me just say- for my husband KARMA was a mean girl!

These are a mixture between a pure bred Maltese and Jack Russell mix (my husband rescued)
May 2013

I celebrated three years of marriage with my wonderful husband!

I also completed 75 classes at my BarreCardio class - at this point I was down about 20 pounds and 10 inches!

June 2013:

It is SUMMA, SUMMA, SUMMA TIME!

I completed my 100th BarreCardio class... I am now down 25 pounds and 14 inches!

Right after my 100th class with the best instructor ever... Kendra!

So that's what's been happening the past year... I promise my next post (if you care!) will be in a couple of days! :)

Bye Ya'll!

Happy Fall!

It's a Marvelous Monday! :) I hope everyone has had a great day so far... I complete complain (and if I did not many would listen huh?)

We had a great day at school today celebrating Christopher Columbus - so much to learn and those little munhkins want to know it all!

Also, I found out my sweet husband got tickets for BIG BLUE MADNESS on Friday! The beginning of basketball season at the big ole U-K!!!

After school I made my Monday stop at

Why is it...even when I try my hardest, like today... I always spend too much... Today's total $100.75. Now granted, that's food for:
* dinner tonight
* dinner tomorrow
* lunch for the week
* chips
* fruit

Still - it just makes me mad sometimes!

On the agenda for tonight: I need to finish lesson planning for the week and R-E-L-A-X-I-N-G!

We are trying Italian Chicken from this cute blog: Crock-A-Doodle-Do - Go check it out!

Have a great evening!

Weigh In Wednesday

You read it right folks... I am changing Wednesday to
"Weigh-In Wednesday!"

I know, I know, those are NOT the words y'all want to hear - especially in the summer time... BUT, I HAVE to do something - I am completely unhappy not satisfied  with my body - and not just the typical cries and complaints a girl has - I have gotten to a weight I am ashamed of, I have double digits in my clothing which I cringe when I have to tell someone and  I hate exercise and use that as my excuse to do nothing.

So I am challenging myself... Every Wednesday I will post my weight - hopefully we will watch the weight trickle down the number line... Usually it will be a picture of the scale - but today, I am just posting the number - link up if you would like to - I am going to try to put recipes and exercises and the different things I do throughout the week!
So here is to shedding a few LBS!
Weigh- In #1

Wednesday, July 11: 169.8 lbs

Number 8!

Hello all!

I am sitting here typing this lovely post from one of my most favorite places (I am a little biased though)...

So let me explain. I know I haven't posted in a long time and I can't explain why - just too much going on with the fam and school - but today is a different day - for many reasons.
1. I am on SPRING BREAK (finally)
2. UK plays for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

So back to why I am at Hugh Jass - obviously for the delicious hamburgers and beer but to HOLD ON
to our TABLE!

Yes the game is at 9:23 tonight - it is 1:05 pm right now... the game is 8 hours and 22 minutes away and I am sitting at our spot to watch the game and CAN'T leave... talk about some dedication ya'll!

Who wants to join me for lunch?

GO CATS!!!

Never Forgotten

Today has been a very somber day for myself and my family. I am sure it has been for you as well. This is a day, that use to be full of happy times for many of my friends whose birthday's are today - but 10 years ago, it changed drastically. I remember sitting in my senior Ethics class at my Catholic High School - when a nun ran in, yelling at us to turn on the tv - we preceded to watch the second tower get hit and fall to the ground.... after Ethics class I went to my government class  - where we learned about the Pentagon. This hit home as my sister was in DC at Law School - we couldn't get ahold of her - that day took forever - those two hours seemed like a lifetime -  until luckily, we did get ahold of Alison.

I do know that this day has affected everyone and everything we do. I am sad this day happened. Those are the only words to explain my feelings.

I hope everyone has taken a moment to think about what happened 10 years ago.

OWWWWW!

Wednesday's are such a fun day. Each week a group of the girlfriends get together and have "Dinner Club!" Each week it is at a different house. The gal who is hosting cooks dinner for everyone. This can be something as easy as ordering pizza (which, honestly we do a lot) or cooking a delicious meal.

It was my turn to host!

I was in the mood for a good home cooked meal and have recently perfected one of my favorite pasta recipes. I thought what better dish to cook for this evening. (Secretly, I wanted to cook a kick a** meal for everyone!)

So, imagine my excitement when I stepped foot in the kitchen today at 5:30 pm- I was ready to cook my awesome meal for my girlfriends. (Side note: I was in Louisville today until 2:30 pm for a professional development [PD]. I left Lexington at 6:30 AM .... so i was a little tired) Knowing that I had my P.D today, I went to the grocery yesterday and got all my ingredients for this LOVELY dish. It includes chicken, artichoke, asparagus, cheese and lots more!

After cleaning the house, I decided to have a wonderful salad with strawberries and feta cheese as well... the salad was made - easy peasy - then came in the sauteing of the chicken and look what happened.... (please disregard how awful I look!)
Look closely my friends - that is not chicken pox, leprosy, or freckles all over my skin...
those are BURNS!

With help from my trusty friend Jack ( see below) he helped me drop chicken into the frying pan where grease splattered all over the place my left arm...

After a few choice words, I finished cooking dinner because of course this happened when the girls were suppose to be at the house in 10 minutes - sat in pain for a little bit until I put after sun aloe on it...

Then my hero - Tay - brought me medicine (because boys aren't allowed at Dinner Club)!

My arm is feeling better - but I will let you know after I have taken a shower!

So, I have learned - when sauteing anything - dogs need to be outside or at least not around me with their toys!!

Polo in the Park

Yesterday, the hubby and I enjoyed a HOT day at Polo in the Park. I am not much of a "Polo Person" but it was super fun and now we know how to prepare for next year! I tried to be the best "Pretty Woman" I could be!

Polo in the Park is an event at the KY Horsepark with the Bluegrass Conservancy. We purchased a tailgating spot - so we had snacks and drinks and watched the USA Polo team kick some South African Booty!

I learned a lot about the game of Polo - One of which, there are not many rules!  But there are seven chukkars or "quarters" if you will. After a few chukkars you are allowed to go push the divots back in the ground - which for all you movie goers - I was totally Julia Roberts from Pretty Woman - WOOT WOOT WOOT!

Thanks brother - in law for making a great picture - even better! :)

It was really hot -

Enjoy pictures from the day!

M.I.A.

HELLO!!! Oh my blogger friends, I have MISSED you!! I am so sorry I have not updated the blog - I have been living life and loving every minute of it!

I just got home a week ago from three weeks in Florida! I had two wonderful weeks with my Mama and Granny and then a week vacation with the Hubby and his family. All in all, a wonderful three weeks!

Because I was lazy errr I mean relaxing and constantly reading while I was on my vacay.... I didn't take too many pictures - but I do have pictures from one of my besties weddings (the one and only reason why I came home in between our Florida trips!)  and a few other things that have happened recently... so here are updates with very few words! (Hopefully!)

Hubby and I at his cousin, John Hagan's wedding!

Hubby and I at our very good friends, David and Ashley's Wedding.

Amy, myself, Ann and Heather

Myself and the bride after pictures outside... (July 2- it was scorching out after pictures outside - no worries, I blotted my face before the wedding!)

The love of my life!

The BEST Dad and Mom a girl could ask for!

Postcard Exchange

So I also have a teacher blog... The Classroom Pet - this is the same post from there...

Hi everyone! So lately I have been "tardy for the party" and am missing out on all the Postcard exchanges. Every time I find a new postcard exchange, Kentucky is taken. So... I am seeing if anyone wants to do one!

Here is the info:
A postcard exchange is where a teacher from each state and her classroom participate! The teachers and students send a post card to a specific school in each state. So, you will need to purchase at least 49 postcards and stamps. The exchange is open to anyone teaching. It would be really cool if participants had a blog, website or another way to share updates and pictures. Postcards will need to be mailed out by the end of October.

It would be nice if all participants to include a line introducing their classroom and a fact about their state! You could even include a line about what you want to learn more about or to contact us at.

If you would like to join the exchange just email me at: amycoates@me.com. Include your name, school, state, and blog!

If you have any blog friends that want to participate let me know!

So here we go chicas!

My beautiful Mama and I are a few years back!

Worn Out

I don't know about you... but I can't wrap my head around the fact that I have 5 1/2 days left of school... THAT'S IT! I mean I am super excited that summer is LITERALLY around the corner; but this stupid weather is WEARING ME OUT!

In fact, everything lately is wearing me out - the weather, our TO- DO list, events that we have had and so much more...

All i want to do is this:

well at least for a little bit!

Hope everyone has a great night!

Weekend

What a wonderful weekend! Just a little recap!

Friday - Tay and I did absolutely nothing! I loved it! I think i was asleep by 9:45! It was perfect.

Saturday - I woke up and got to go to one of my best buddies wedding shower! It was in Dayton, Ohio. It was a beautiful day for a drive, something different then all the rain we have had! So, I started the drive but right before I hit the bridge in Cincy - dead stop traffic. So I was a few more like thirty minutes late to the shower - luckily I wasn't the only one running a little late due to the traffic... but I actually left at 930 to get there on time! Oh well.. lunch was delicious, the shopping was great and the company was FABULOUS!

After spending the day with the lovely bride to be, I drove back home and met my favorite Lexington people at Village Host for a wonderful birthday bash for G! While there.... I met a my blog icon - PINK LOU LOU!! I didn't let her know that I follow her ok slightly obsessed with her  stalk her blog.  Maybe, just maybe she will see my post - so I won't have to hide it! :)

Sunday - I decided to do a personal transformation:

Before:

After: (not the best picture: relaxing on the couch!)

I like the new hair cut but looking at the picture above it makes me miss the 10 inches that got cut off.... oh well - it grows back right!?!?

So what did you do this weekend?

BOOM BOOM ROARRRRRR....

That has been the only sound I have heard in the Bluegrass for the past several days.... I feel like all it does is RAIN, THUNDER, RAIN, LIGHTNING, and more RAIN.

It has rained so much I am about to build one of these:

Since I think my wood building skills are a little rusty we may start doing this in our back yard:
We might have to use some of our neighbor's yards as well to make the tour successful and to see as many crocodiles as possible!

Oh well! I will get over the rain I am sure - wish we could pass some of the places like Texas having those awful fires.

I am excited for tomorrow - church in the morning and then there is nothing like last minute shopping at the grocery to make some sweet Easter treats! Stay tuned!!

So Sorry....

As I normally write my emails to one of my BEST FRIENDS Meredith (over at And They're Off....), I will write this post. We like to use numbers a lot!

1. Sorry I have been MIA for the past few weeks. Things have been crazy busy and I can't even tell you what I have been doing except for working!
2. AGHHH... Then this week I was hit by...wait for it...wait for it... STREP THROAT (AGAIN!) I have been home from work since Tuesday.
3. This year alone I have missed seven school days due to strep throat which leads to my next point.
4. This summer the decision has been made -whether I want to or not - my tonsils are coming out.
5. I am deathly afraid of needles. No joke - have to have a hand to hold to get a flu shot, finger prick anything.

So as you can tell - I am not a happy camper right now.

JORTS!

Okay, okay, okay... i have missed a few opportunities to blog; but, I have perfect reason why! Tay and I spent several days down in Nashville, just the two of us! It was so much fun to enjoy each other's company and not have to worry about one thing! We dined out, drank, and just had so much fun!

Any who - I have been on spring break and can't say I have done much of anything which was exactly what I needed.

Last night, for a fun outing, Tay, Willie, Les and I went to the opening night of the Legend's Game... BAD IDEA. Not only was it opening night but it was "Thirsty Thursday!" You could not move - LITERALLY. It was awful.. so awful that we left a little early. But, to my great surprise... who did I see when we were leaving...wait for it...wait for it... JORTS!

Notice the amazing picture below.
Willie and I with Harrelson Jorts! Taylor clearly does not know
how to center a picture on the phone!

Let me tell you a few things:
1. It was a great night to wear jorts!
2. He is HUGE (tall) in person.. i mean you see him on tv and you think he's tall- but in person he is a GIANT!
3. Also on tv, he looks a little thicker - he is a thin man!
4. He truly likes cologne! He had a lot on!

So all in all, my trip to the ball field wasn't so bad... because I met JORTS!
